County receives mitigation assurances from HS2 Ltd

Warwickshire County Council has received an official letter containing a number of assurances from HS2 Ltd to mitigate the impact of the high speed railway.

The letter outlines the various mitigation measures being offered by HS2 Ltd to the local authority to address issues in its petition submitted to Parliament in May 2014.

During the appearance, HS2 Ltd provided the county council with a number of assurances on issues including Water Orton Primary School, the A446 road, a special management zone in North Warwickshire, mitigation measures in the Burton Green area, and improved public access.The authority appeared in front of the Parliamentary HS2 Select Committee on October 27 and 28 to present its case on items contained in its petition for mitigation from the Government’s hybrid Bill legislation for High Speed Rail 2 (HS2).

The content of the letter will be considered by the county council before any binding agreements are made.
