Warwickshire HS2 Presentations and Notes

  WCC held a series of seminars for town and parish councils and action groups on Tuesday 13 March. The event covered noise, cuttings and embankments, bridges, tunnels and viaducts and ecology and archaeology. It was designed to help those who will be representing their communities at the HS2 Community Forums organised by HS2 Ltd and due to begin to take place later this month.

Labour proposes new route for HS2

 Labour’s new HS2 fails to impress supporters or critics

THE LABOUR PARTY has outlined an alternative route for HS2 which runs via Heathrow airport and also follows the corridors of the Chiltern main line and the M40 motorway, but the plan has received a cautious reception.

The maps are made up of different layers of data and show:

• Proposed High Speed 2 route and 1km buffer.

• Historic Landscape Character.

How to use the map layers

  To view the different layers of the maps, click the layers button on the left hand side of the window.

  Click the ‘+’ next to the folder to show all the layer groups. Click the ‘+’ to expand any of the layer groups.

  To display a layer, click in the box next to the layer you want to show. To turn the layer off, click on the eye next to the layer you want to remove. The changes will then be displayed on the map.

The county map and the three 1:50,000 scale maps are based on the HS2 proposed route data provided to Warwickshire County Council by HS2 Ltd. in December 2010. This is the finalised route that HS2 Ltd. are taking to public consultation in March 2011.The maps will be updated again if and when HS2 Ltd. send updated details of the route, or the authority obtains new data layers that may be of interest to the public. See the data sources for data currently held by the authority and presented here in the map evidence base. Most of the data layers included on the maps have been but cut to 1km either side of the currently proposed route, and within the Warwickshire County Boundary.
